  1. INSPECTION: We open and inspect the entire watch to provide a thorough, meaningful estimate of the work that it will take to get the watch to work and look its best. We check its gaskets, crystal, case and movement for missing or broken parts and send you a complete list of the work that it will require.
  2. DISASSEMBLY: We take the entire watch apart screw by screw into its 100+ component parts. This includes entire case from end-pieces and spring-bars to crown tube and bracelet. Next the movement receives a complete, comprehensive teardown. We take apart the entire mechanism including the stem setting and winding mechanism.
  3. ULTRASONIC CLEANING: Once the parts are all disassembled and sorted, they are taken through a 3 part ultrasonic cleaning process. First, the case parts are placed in a heated ultrasonic bath to take remove any plaque buildup that has built up on the outside of the watch over time. The plaque is a mixture of dirt, skin cells and oils that can cause allergic reactions if left untreated. Similarly, the movement undergoes a two stage cleaning process that cleans hardened oil residues and powdered metal that buildup over the course of the life of mechanical watches. The first ultrasonic solution uses a concentrated cleaning agent to dissolves oil and dirt from the various surfaces. After this cycle, the movement parts dried and inspected for cleanliness. If all of the surfaces are not clean, then the process is repeated. Once completed, the items are placed in a second ultrasonic solution that acts as a rinse and removes the cleaning residue as well as any dissolved oils. The parts are then dried and inspected a final time before assembly.
  4. POLISHING: Once the case is thoroughly cleaned, it is polished according to its original model specifications. Because we use watchmaker’s micro-polishing techniques, the edges of your watch case will maintain their sharp edges and are not “dulled” as commonly occurs when polished by jewelers.
  5. LUBRICATION: We reassemble the movement using the correct Swiss made lubricants (Moebius Brand) ensuring long life and even wear to all of the watch’s delicate parts.
  6. REASSEMBLY: The movement is then fully reassembled with the dial and hands and each function is cycled through to ensure proper functioning. The case is reassembled separately and new seals are used to ensure long term water resistance.
  7. TIMING: The movement is tested on a timegrapher and any required corrections are made to make certain that the watch maintains perfect time.
  8. TESTING: The case is tested for correct water resistance in a Swiss Bergeon BG5555/98 Water Proof Tester. Once water resistance is assured, the complete watch is reassembled and tested on a watch winder for 48-168 hours to detect any possible signs or fault. At this point the watch is qualified to receive a serialized warranty certificate.
  9. LUBRICATION: We reassemble the movement using the correct Swiss made lubricants (Moebius Brand) ensuring long life and even wear to all of the watch’s delicate parts.
  10. REASSEMBLY: The movement is then fully reassembled with the dial and hands and each function is cycled through to ensure proper functioning. The case is reassembled separately and new seals are used to ensure long term water resistance.
